LOISE MAINA

Loise Maina is a seasoned Gender and Development professional and is currently the Associate Director of Women’s Economic Power, at Women for Women International where she is overseeing economic power programming across all WfWI country offices. She has previously worked with Practical Action as Global Gender Advisor and has held other programme and policy-related roles with UN Women, Pact Kenya now Act Change Transform, and St. John’s Community Centre.

Ms. Maina is currently based in Nairobi with over 15 years of experience in the development and implementation of gender and women’s economic empowerment programming and policies in Africa, Latin America, and South Asia. She has extensive experience in entrepreneurship & financial inclusion, savings-led microfinance, gender analysis, and program design.

Ms. Maina holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi, an Msc in Organizational Development from United States International University, and an M.A. in Gender and Development from the University of Nairobi. She is also currently a PhD Candidate in Public Policy at the University of Nairobi and is a recipient of the Partnership for African Social and Governance Research and Carnegie Corporation of New York Doctoral Scholarship Award.
