Community Spotlight: Esperance expands her food kiosk with support from Women Ambassador Group

Esperance is a Congolese refugee who runs her own produce stand in Nairobi. She joined a RefuSHE Women Ambassador Group to build her business and join a community of fellow refugee women and business owners. With financial support and business expertise from RefuSHE, Esperance has expanded her business and no longer worries about paying school and medical fees for her children.

“I started running a food kiosk, often bringing my baby with me while I worked. The biggest challenge I faced at the beginning was a lack of capital. That's when I learned about the [Women Ambassador Group]. I started receiving [zero-interest] loans. That's when I was able to expand and add my chips business," Esperance said.  

Through its Women Ambassador Program, RefuSHE has provided financial support and business expertise to over 1,000 refugee women, helping them jumpstart their micro-enterprises while providing a caring community of fellow refugee women/business owners.
