WILFRED NDERITU

Wilfred Ngunjiri Nderitu SC is a lawyer with over 35 years of experience, specializing in criminal justice, human rights, and legal reform. Mr. Nderitu was conferred by the President of the Republic of Kenya with the rank of Senior Counsel, the highest rank conferred on members of the legal profession who have made a significant contribution to the legal profession and/or public life on account of their exceptional experience and outstanding ability. He currently resides in Nairobi, Kenya, where he is managing partner in the law firm of Nderitu & Partners, and a practicing arbitrator.

Called to the Kenyan Bar in 1989 after earning an LL.B., Nderitu advanced his expertise with a Master of Arts in International Relations from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He has qualified as counsel for international criminal tribunals, including the International Criminal Court. He has held leadership roles including former chairperson of the Governing Council of the Kenyan Section of the International Commission of Jurists and convenor of the Law Society of Kenya's Criminal Justice Committee since 2015, driving initiatives on policing, prosecution, and victim support. Nderitu's notable contributions include election as vice chairperson of the National Council on the Administration of Justice's Committee on Criminal Justice Reforms in 2017, where he contributed to multi-agency efforts reviewing Kenya's system of investigation, incarceration, and offender re-entry.
