RefuSHE Launches Artisan Collective Shop

We are pleased to announce the grand opening of RefuSHE’s Artisan Collective Shop on our campus in Nairobi! The store features scarves, bags, scrunchies, and accessories that have been hand-dyed and handcrafted by the refugee members of our Artisan Collective.

The Artisan Collective is a peer-driven social enterprise that provides refugee women with the education and opportunities they need to become skilled, confident, and economically independent entrepreneurs. Before applying to become members of the Artisan Collective, Girls Empowerment Program (GEP) students must complete a series of tailoring and Vocational Training classes. As members of the Artisan Collective, they participate in a collaborative arts-based curriculum and learn business management and retail skills which are transferable to the outside economy. Artisan Collective members help design, create, and manage a line of unique, hand-dyed scarves and other textiles. They are paid a monthly stipend, which members use to pay their rent, feed their families, and cover household expenses.

100% of proceeds from Artisan Collective products support RefuSHE's mission to protect, educate, and empower orphaned, unaccompanied, and separated refugee girls in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Artisan Collective Shop is located on RefuSHE's campus in Nairobi. We are based in the Lavington area off Gitanga Road, just behind Rusinga School. You can find our exact location on Google Maps. Just search for “RefuSHE Kenya Office.”

The Artisan Collective Shop is open for business Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM.
