ROSE KANANA MUTHURI

Chief Programs Officer

Rose Kanana Muthuri is an enthusiastic program designer with 16 years of experience in humanitarian development, human rights protection, leadership, coordination, concept development, budget administration, and policy and program risk analysis. She previously served as RefuSHE’s Senior Director of Digital Literacy & Education Innovation.

Rose has worked in international non-governmental organizations in Kenya, Somalia, and Mozambique designing programs as a technical advisor and in management with CARE Kenya, KAALO-Somalia, Voluntary Service Oversees-AMIMO Mozambique, and the Danish Refugee Council of Kenya. She has managed multiple donor portfolios, program operations, and liaisons. Most recently, Rose led the integration of digital learning, monitoring, and virtual psychological first aid for remote programming in Nairobi.

Rose holds a BA in Education and an MA in Sociology and Community Development from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, as well as a diploma in a human rights-based approach to development programming from the Danish Institute for Human Rights. She is a self-published poet and longtime advocate for the creative arts.
