ROSE KANANA MUTHURI

Country Manager

Rose Kanana Muthuri is a seasoned tri-nexus humanitarian and development leader with over 20 years of experience leading transformative programs across East and Southern Africa. She has extensive expertise in humanitarian response, refugee protection, community development, donor engagement, and organizational leadership.

Before becoming Country Manager at RefuSHE, Rose served as Chief Programs Officer, where she advanced innovative refugee and youth programming through digital learning, remote monitoring, and virtual psychosocial support initiatives. Her career includes leadership and technical advisory roles with Danish Refugee Council, KAALO-Puntland State University, CARE Kenya, and AMIMO-Voluntary Service Overseas, across Kenya, Somalia, and Mozambique.

Rose holds a BA in Education and an MA in Sociology and Community Development from the University of Nairobi, as well as a diploma in Human Rights-Based Approaches to Development Programming from the Danish Institute for Human Rights. She is a passionate advocate for girls’ and women’s rights, as well as a self-published poet who champions the creative arts.
